Decluttering the Bathrooms
Bathrooms are busy rooms. Bathing, showering and grooming by multiple users are daily activities that make it tough to prevent bathroom clutter.
Bathrooms require ample storage space for all the grooming tools we use on a daily basis. Unfortunately, most bathrooms have limited space than can easily cause cluttering. Despite the compactness of your bathroom, you can still organize it properly. Youâll be surprised to discover that most of the stuff that crowds your bathroom space is unused and unnecessary. The space might appear bigger if you can manage to sort similar items together. Try to keep different categories separated from each other: cosmetics, skin care essentials, shaving supplies, nair care items and hair accessories.
For shared bathrooms, consider designating individual drawers, shelves and baskets for the users. You should however take extra caution in shared bathrooms. Let it be known what can be shared and what not to. Cosmetics, toothbrushes and hairbrushes should never be shared to prevent the spread of infections. However, toiletries, shampoo, lotion, toothpaste and facial cleansers can always be shared.
So, how do you go about the decluttering of these items?
Towels
Are all your towels in good shape? For towels that have been used for ages, use them as rags. If they are still in a usable condition, you can donate them to an animal shelter. You however need to limit the number of towels you have in the bathroom to prevent an overfull appearance. Two towels per family member are enough. You can keep a few extra towels for the rare times you have guests or visitors.
Wrong shades that you bought by accident, should preferably be discarded or donated. Old makeup and empty bottles should be thrown away. If you want to make sure that your makeup is still in a good condition, simply check the following rules:
â Mascara and liquid eyeliner should be replaced after every three to four months
â When kept in a cool and dry place, liquid foundation can last up to a year
â Lipsticks and lipgloss can be used for a year and six months respectively
â When kept away from moisture, beauty powders can safely be kept for up to two years
â Throw out all brushes that are already losing fibers. If you only use 2-3 brushes in a set of 10, consider giving away the others instead of filling up your drawers. Clean the brushes that you use regularly properly before you return them to the drawer.
Hair Products and Accessories
Any hair product that never worked for you should be trashed. Old products and the ones you regret buying, should also be put away. Allair accessories like ties, headbands and elastics should be organized together and the items you no longer wear should be ditched. Toss hair brushes and combs that you donât use and clean what you would like to keep.
Skin Products
Just like the hair products, dispose of those that are old and that doesnât work for you.
Nail Care Supplies
Although nail polish can last for years if kept out of direct sunlight, always look for changes such as clumpiness and then opt to rather throw it away.
